From the bathtub master to the medieval harbour
LEGO® fan exhibition phaenoBRICKS at the Science Centre phaeno Wolfsburg

Round, square, large, small, illuminated - over 700 billion LEGO® bricks have been sold worldwide to date. Visitors to the LEGO® fan exhibition phaenoBRICKS on 24/25 February and 2/3 March at phaeno can see for themselves how these bricks can be turned into a medieval harbour, the village of Asterix and Obelix, a Harry Potter film scene and much more. The fan group "Steineland Harz + Heide" has asked master builders from the USA, the Netherlands and Germany to bring a wide variety of unique objects to Wolfsburg.

"With this exhibition, we want to show how incredibly creative you can be with these colourful bricks. LEGO® connects us with fans all over the world," explains Oliver Starke, the curator of the exhibition from the fan group "Steineland Harz + Heide".

The focus of phaenoBRICKS this year is on moving works with humour and a surprise effect: frogs on a pond catch a fly, a sea monster swims through high waves and guests at a tennis match move in sync with the ball.

"These works have a strong connection to the phaeno exhibition. For example, the mechanics of the spaghetti eater in the permanent exhibition are just as easy to see as the bathtub master made of colourful LEGO® bricks," says Davy Champion, phaeno organiser of the exhibition.

On both weekends, numerous members of the fan group will be on hand at the buildings to provide information, get the exhibition moving and give tips on how to do it yourself. Of course, visitors are also welcome to help build. A building corner with numerous colourful bricks and a large mosaic, which will be completed with the help of many hands over the weekend, will be available for LEGO® fans and creative minds. "We are particularly proud that 17 participants from the region took part in the "Kinetic Lego" building competition. We will also present their works in the exhibition and select three winners on Saturday, 24 February," explains Davy Champion.

Highlights of the exhibition

Small worlds with lots of details
The Death Star from Star Wars is a huge space station built to destroy entire planets. The fan group used the building instructions to depict Minecraft scenes, the diverse life on the farm, rooms for technology freaks and the colourful world of "Everyone is awesome". A total of four works with imaginative details will be on display.

Harry Potter film scene
The participants of the Triwizard Tournament are ready to enter the magical labyrinth... In the labyrinth is a cup, whichawaits the winners as a fateful portkey...

Automaton - moving figures
Vacuum once on a tiny island and do it systematically! The kinetic figures by Teun de Wijs from Amsterdam amaze and amuse viewers. Taylor Heanue from Boston works with a lot of detail and adventurous constructions. His frogs by the pond, which are about to eat a fly with relish, are a real eye-catcher.

The large marble run
A playground for marbles: In this GBC installation, they are transported through adventurous constructions: Tunnels, conveyor belts, Ferris wheels ... there are virtually no limits to the imagination.

Many more structures await the guests.
